Bootsschein for Android

All official exam questions for the German recreational boating license, coastal and inland waters — with the 15 exam papers your exam is drawn from.

Get it on Google Play Download on the App Store

Bootsschein is also available for Android: all official exam questions for the German recreational boating license (SBF See and SBF Binnen), with the exam papers, the exam simulation and the navigation tasks. How the exam works and why 27 out of 30 correct answers can still mean failing is explained in detail on the app's main page — this page is about the Android version. The app itself is in German.

What the Android app does

  • The official papers: 15 exam papers per license area, following the official question distribution exactly. Plus an exam simulation that draws a paper and only reveals which one in the results. Flag questions, jump around, see open questions at a glance.
  • Inland waters under engine, under sail, or both: you choose your license and the app picks the matching papers — including sailing papers S 1 to S 15 and the supplementary sailing papers, each with the correct time limit and passing rule.
  • Navigation tasks for coastal waters: the 15 official tasks with the official results, worked out on your own practice chart D49. The app shows the official result next to yours, and you can practice wrong sub-questions again.
  • Answers always shuffled: in the official catalog the correct answer always comes first, in the exam it doesn't — the app shuffles them on every attempt.
  • Twelve topics from right of way to navigation lights, sound signals and weather, with instant feedback. For lights, sound signals and right of way, the app explains why an answer is correct.
  • Repeat until it sticks: a question counts as learned after three correct answers — right away, the next day and three days later. With your exam date set, you get a short plan every day.
  • With the clock running: 60 minutes for coastal waters, 45 for inland waters; if you already hold a boating license, you practice without the basic section and with less time. If the app is closed mid-exam, the exam resumes where you left off.
  • Results per threshold: for example at least 5 of 7 basic questions AND at least 18 of 23 specific ones. The app shows each threshold separately.
  • Every paper stays reviewable — question by question, only the mistakes or single sections, with exactly the answer you chose.
